Waiter, Please can I have a Side of Celebrities with my Dinner?

It’s fair to say that Vancouver attracts more than its fair share of celebrities. Known as ‘Hollywood North’, you could call the city a magnet for the rich and famous. So keep your eyes peeled when you go for dinner… Who knows who you could bump into during your next city break?

1. Make your way to funky Yaletown, head into the Blue Water Café, order yourself a nice dish of local oysters and sit back and spot the likes of Ben Stiller, Alicia Silverstone or Uma Thurman. Oh yeah.

2. Give your credit card a battering in Robson Street’s stores and boutiques and then go into the stylish CinCin for a big dish of linguine with lobster, san marzano tomato sauce and gremolata. If you can take your eyes off your delicious carb-hit, you may spy the likes of Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake tucking into their risotto of wild and cultivated mushrooms, black perigold truffle and crunchy parmesan.

3. Nothing but steak will do? Over on Seymour Street you can treat yourself to a mighty ‘Tomahawk’ steak served up with a side-order of celebrity-spotting at Gotham Steakhouse. As you dive into one of the juiciest steaks of your life, you may spot The Rock or Halle Berry. Bon appetite!

4. If you’re on the lookout for Drake, Jennifer Anniston or Bill Clinton, get yourself over to Yaletown for a fresh perspective on Mediterranean cooking at Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill & Enoteca. We defy you to resist the risotto nero i frutti di mare of sustainable seafood served with black ink sauce or the linguine with Atlantic lobster and tomato-cream-lobster sauce.

5. Over at Tojo’s on West Broadway, Chef Hidekazu Tojo is something of a celebrity himself. He did, after all, invent the California Roll. Oh yes he did! So order yourself your favourite Japanese rolls and a glass of saké, sit back and keep your eyes peeled for the likes of Eddie Murphy, Morgan Freeman or William Shatner. And live long and prosper…
